In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
JOHN 1:1
The Word of God came down.
Think about that. It’s remarkable and humbling.
John begins his gospel with a powerful look at Jesus. Jesus as the Word. Before he recounts his first-hand experience with the Savior, he wants us to remember that Jesus is Divine. Present from the beginning of the world. “All things were made by him,” the Creator. Life.
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
In case we still didn’t get it, John says in verse 14,
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Throughout the Bible and history, you can see men going out to meet God, going into the woods, or up the mountain. When we can get those moments with God in nature it’s great. But something very special about Jesus is you often see him going to the women. The women working, going about their daily lives, busy but he sought them out. The woman at the well. Mary in the garden. Stopped to talk to the woman with the issue of blood after she touched the hem of His garment.
God does in deed come to women where they are, when they are doing their ordinary, everyday work. He meets them at the wells where they draw water for their families, in their homes, in their kitchens, in their gardens. He comes to them as they sit beside sickbeds, as they give birth, care for the elderly, and perform necessary mourning and burial rites.

The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Until Jesus, the people had the Word of God, They could read It. But now…now they could see The Word.
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Hebrews 1:1-2
Jesus came to fulfill the Word, to give power to the Word, to be the Word- moving and breathing and living the sinless life that we had failed to do. And making the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. If we want to know God’s Word we need to look at Jesus.
The whole Bible points to Him, a beautiful story of redemption.
When we abide in the Word of God we get to know the Son of God. He increases our faith. And that is our saving grace. “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7
As a busy and often weary momma that is my hope. To abide in Him and Him in me. I am in desperate need of The Life-Giver.
Ponder How You Can Receive Life
What are some ways that I can abide in Christ daily? How can I make more room for Him in my busy mom life? Do I recognize when He comes to me? He is always there. How can I remember that?
Right down the ideas that God gives you. By beholding Him, we become changed into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Prayer To Invite The Life Giver
Lord,
You came so that I could be saved, not just for your kingdom in the future, but from the stress and toils of life now. Help me to abide in You and have Your Words in my heart and mind daily. To get to know you as my very personal Savoir and friend. To understand the whole story of your love from the world’s creation to your promised second coming. To hide Your Words in my heart and be a witness to Your Glory with my life. Abide in me that I do my work with love and peace.
Thank you for coming down to show me the Living Word.
