I remember using Mapquest back in the day. Anyone else?

When GPS became available to us normal people it was a game changer. Sometimes it works great but other times it looks like you’re driving through a lake or it tries to turn you don’t a dirt road that looks like it is heading to the middle of nowhere.
Follow your heart they say. But is that what the Bible says?
I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.
PSALM 119:112
Hmm “unto the end.”.
I have inclined my heart. My heart is set.
The Bible says, The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 19:9
Only God knows the real state of our hearts. We are not naturally obedient, inclined to keep God’s statutes, His laws, and Words on our own. It takes a decision to give our hearts to Him and a determination to continue on in that decision.
When you set a destination on your GPS and you follow it, unless something is faulty with the system, you will arrive at the destination you set. Not somewhere else entirely. Because you chose a point, set it, and stayed true to that course. Still as mentioned sometimes something is faulty. That’s why we need to stay in a posture of prayer.
Through daily prayer, Bible study, listening, and watching, we can set our heart’s GPS on the things above, on the path that God has for us with the destination being a deeper relationship with Him. And with His help, we can stay the course.
I am so thankful that God’s faithfulness does not fluctuate with ours because we sometimes get off course. But just as a GPS can reroute when there is an obstacle in the way, we can decide to get back to the course God has for us when we do make mistakes. We can make the choice to give control to Him. He is a much better navigator than we are.
He will not force our heart’s direction, though, because that is not true love. Just as we can ignore what the GPS is speaking out, we can ignore God’s calling on our lives.
But, don’t do that friend. He has so much better waiting for you.
All we have to do is make God our set point. Incline our hearts to hear His call, obey His law, and wait to see what He will do. You will end up in a much better destination. Almighty God guarantees it.
Pondering My Heart Stance
Do I need to “incline my heart” back towards God? Am I trying to take over the driving when I need to move over and allow God to have control?
All it takes is a decision. Tell the Lord yours now.
Prayer to “Set” Our Hearts:
Father God,
At some point, I started trying to navigate my life without giving You full control. I do not know why I thought I could navigate better than my Creator, the Creator of the whole universe. Forgive me. I give control back to You. I set my heart on Your Statues. And if I ever start to veer off course, remind me, remind me that You have everything handled and Your ways are better than my ways.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9
Help me incline my heart to Your ways and thoughts to the end.
Amen
