Do you feel like you could use some light in this dark world Momma?

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
JOHN 8:12
Jesus spoke this testimony of Himself and the Pharisees believed Him not. When Jesus spoke of His Father, they asked who is your father.
“Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.” 8:19
He goes on to tell them unless they believe that He is who He says He is they will die in their sins.
The light of the world stood before them and they recognized It not.
Do we recognize Him? Do we see where He is working in the busyness of life?
Jesus came not as Light to the Jews only. Jesus said I am the Light of the world. The Light of Life. The Light that brings us out of darkness, that guides our feet, that gives us wisdom and understanding to see clearly. He’s our light Mommas. The light we need when we don’t know where to go or what to do or how to keep going.
The world can be a dark place because much of it does not follow Him or have the light. It doesn’t even recognize its need for The Light.
But, Jesus provides the only real solution to darkness, for the darkness cannot overcome Him. When we follow Jesus, our hearts are opened allowing divine light to stream into every dark corner and heal every broken part of us and light the way for us.
By being clothed in His light, we can become children of light passing a stream of hope to our children, our families, and the world. “While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.” John 12:36
May we recognize The Light, follow The Light, and reflect The Light out into the world.
Pondering The Light Of His Goodness
Jesus, how may I reflect Your character, The Light Of the World?
One of the ways we can begin to see the light and how Jesus is working in our lives and all around us is through daily reflection. Here are some reflection prompt ideas for your journal:
- What Bible verse encourages you the most in your role as a mother, and why?
- How do you see God’s grace working in your parenting journey?
- What is one prayer you find yourself repeating as a mom, and how has God answered it?
- Reflect on a time when your patience was tested. How did your faith help you through it?
- How can you invite God into the everyday moments of motherhood (e.g., playtime, chores, bedtime)?
Let’s Prayer
Lord,
I want to be a part of Your chosen generation called out of darkness into Your Marvelous Light. To reflect Your Light to others and draw them to You. May I shine brightly for Your Glory.
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” 1 Peter 2:9
“I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard My people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear My light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Here I am Lord, Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.”
